I love a story that keeps your interest and is a page turner. Such is this story. Quite entertaining. I highly recommend this book.
So first off, it was the title that got me. It reminded me of Percy Jackson somehow. I had never heard of this book before, so I figured it would be awful, especially since it was so cheap. I was rong. This was an awesome book, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fantasy action aventure kind of plotline. And maybe this is because Im a girl, but the only thing I didnt like was the gore. It wasnt really becuse it was, well, gory, it was because it was so corny. Seriously, a guys eyeballs popping out of his head? Is that physicly possible? Shure it made you hate the bad guy all the more, but it reminded me of Indiana Jones gore. Remember the guy getting run over by that big truck right down the middle of his body, and the crunchy sounds? That kind of gore. It wasnt scary to me at all, just corny. Anyway, this book was good, and I dont understand why its not huge, and there isnt a movie based off it yet. There should be.
I really really loved this book!!! and nobody dare say otherwise... EVER!! it was really creative and inventive. the gore wasn't too scary but it added to the story. one of the best books ive ever read... and ive read innumerable books. that includes harry potter and percy jackson serieses. please, i would recomend this to anybody. maybe thats just because i love nearly every book ive read, but i know its not. ive come across lots of books i dont like and this book was exceptional. i especially liked imagining the monsters, especially especially the sleepers because i love to be scared myself and imagine things even though i hate scary movies. but if you dont like to be scared, theyre not too scary and its an awesome book. in my mind, this book should be up with the big leaguers-- famous. please read this book! and if youre too lame to spend four dollars on it you can get it as a free bonus if you buy some/one of his other books!! PLEASE READ IT! YOU WONT REGRET IT!!! -) ;-) ) ;)

Well, first of all this book kinda sets the stage by calling itself the natural successor of one of the best series of books ever written. Apart from the fact that being so presumptuous is the first fail, the book does not even come close. Don't get me wrong, it's nice reading, the story is captivating, but the book lacks style, and there are typos in the edition, something that makes the reader seriously ask himself whether someone even read that book before it was published.
- xxx moved passed the table. Jesus, folks, that is one of the simplest word ever. Even worse, later in the book, it's the other way round He past the guy standing there... Sorry, mistakes like that are ridiculous and kill the pleasure of reading a good book.
- The story is weird in itself. The experience starts out with a really weird horror scenario. Gangs roaming the streets, beating up people, vandalizing the neighborhood... Then the author tries to be funny by describing The First Evil in some funny ways (the carriage, the way he eats - don't want to give away too much), while trying to create an atmosphere of suspense. Here, again, he fails miserably. The funny sides of The First Evil seem misplaced, and the story loses...
All in all as I said, it's nice reading, but it's nowhere close to the genius of the Harry Potter books, and if it had not been so cheap (4 bucks) I would have been seriously disappointed.
